Blazing flames, glowing tree trunks, and illuminated plumes of smoke in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the summer of 2022, on the first night after the outbreak of the largest forest fire ever documented in this region.
A natural disaster of this magnitude in the core area of my daily photographic work was hard for me to imagine. Since the fire, I have been monitoring the rapid changes in nature and, in addition to the destruction, have also tried to capture its recovery.
